Two related searches may, again, be disappointments in physics. The CERN experimental rig, using the injector accelerator, is being set up to hunt for Axions. The chance, for finding these particles, with this lash-up, is very low. It is a desperation move. Quantum foam is the stuff that is supposedly is akin to an analogy of spacetime 'bubbling” or more properly waves trampolining through spacetime along the time axis. I do not understand the idea at all, since I would think the foam would affect a more easily detected characteristic like “spin” which physicists should have detected before this search for differences in the expected change from electron neutrino, to tau, to muon, back to electron neutrino again. Besides, the sun has not been very cooperative recently. For my assessment of Doctor Jonathan Oppenheim, mentioned? I would not take his antics seriously. He seems to know his stuff; insofar as I understand it. QFT beats super strings these days as a speculation. On the “foam” though, I think he's wrong. Avatar
