This situation is kind of universal, in fact, as I suspected at the time. It was what finally drove me into merely building things for a living. I was not smart enough to work at the levels of chicanery, where these lying bigoted geniuses worked, for first principle. I could do something actually honest in my life that I love to do, for second principle.
In the end, it comes down to honesty.
