What makes Doctor Fatima a function check for me, is does her ideology match with my experience? Can I be flexible enough to see her point of view? Do I have a world-view that is inflexible? Can I accept new data or new interpretations of old data?
Surprisingly, I CAN change my mind about subjects, once I have an informed data driven argument presented to me. I have not gone into goose step land mentally. That is a good thing.
The bad thing, here, is that the studies she cites, and the ideas she presents, do not diverge at all from bio-range resource limitation and human technological plateau events which are common to MY EXPERIENCE and education. This stuff is decades old to me. Nothing she says about the conditions of intelligent life, or why there is only one example of it, is new to me. The idea of living harmoniously with nature is of course ideologically tinged with a form of her reverse-racism, but I discount that aspect as pure nonsense. I look at Chinese (current) and Senegalese and Aztec (past) imperialism as colonialist examples, just as egregious as "western imperialism" was/is. It is wired into us as a maxima to exploit any bio-advantage we have as human animals to exploit our environment. Stuff the morality down the toilet on that bias. Facts and observed behaviors lead me to that almost universal conclusion.
Similarly, I have been aware of the "Krypton paradox" for decades.
Why did the fictional Kryptonians snuff themselves?
You can postulate that we stupid humans are smarter than stupid Kryptonians? Sure, why not? IOW, Doctor Fatima had better get with the program and catch up with us old "white male supremacists imperialists". We have environmental laws, arms limitation treaties, and hundreds of human adaptation examples where we "westerners" have gone out of our way to mitigate our propensity to exterminate ourselves.
